I collect, nurture and refine materials, especially pigments and fiber, from the intimate and wild world around me for use in my work. These processes create a point of contact for me to explore my relationship to and sense of belonging within the ‘more-than-human’ world.
The images I make are intuitively drawn from salient moments of connection or alternately dissonance and longing for intimacy. They are also manifestations of the relationships I am building through careful observation, listening and the physical work of craft. I see my work as a practice of experiencing and exploring the aliveness of the world.
Through this lens, my work asks questions. Who is this being and can we collaborate? What patterns and power dynamics connect and which isolate me? What other experiences of our shared reality are possible?
